LKQ Europe acquires ACtronics, strengthening its repair and remanufacturing capabilities in electronic vehicle components

Acquisition expands sustainable repair solutions for workshops and vehicle owners across Europe

LKQ Europe today announced the acquisition of ACtronics, a leading European specialist in the repair and remanufacturing of automotive electronic components.

Founded in 2005 and headquartered in Almelo, the Netherlands, ACtronics is a recognised pioneer in the repair of complex vehicle electronics, including ABS/ESP units, instrument clusters and displays, transmission control units (TCUs), engine control units (ECUs) and body control units (BCUs[Dv1.1]), as well as specialist components for EVs. The company operates exclusively in the B2B aftermarket, serving workshops, dealers and distributors across Europe.

LKQ Europe already operates a number of circular economy businesses across the region, including LKQ SYNETIQ, the UK’s leading vehicle salvage, dismantling and recycling business; LKQ Electriq, focused on EV battery repair solutions; LKQ Atracco, a leading Nordic vehicle recycler; and LKQ’s Remanufacturing channel, a leader in remanufactured ICE powertrain components which are sold under the Vege and MRT product brands as part of the Emotive portfolio.

The acquisition strengthens LKQ Europe’s remanufacturing capabilities by adding specialist electronic expertise to its existing portfolio, enhancing its ability to provide cost-effective and sustainable alternatives to new replacement parts – particularly in the growing area of electronic components.

Iwan Schmitz, Managing Director – Remanufacturing at LKQ Europe, said: “ACtronics brings deep capability in a highly specialised and fast-growing area of the aftermarket, strengthening our ability to support customers with more sustainable and cost-effective repair solutions.

“As vehicles become more technologically complex and the cost of replacement components continues to rise, the ability to repair and remanufacture these systems is increasingly important for workshops and their customers.

“Just as importantly, ACtronics shares our focus on quality, innovation and sustainability. Bringing our capabilities together enhances our remanufacturing proposition and positions us strongly for the future.”

Niek Bragt, Managing Director, ACtronics, added: “ACtronics has built its business on innovation, technical know-how and delivering high-quality alternatives to new replacement parts. Joining LKQ Europe is an exciting next step for us.

“With LKQ’s scale, network and aftermarket expertise, we have a strong platform to accelerate our growth, expand into new markets and continue investing in research and development – particularly in emerging areas such as advanced electronics and EV components. Together, we can bring our solutions to more customers and further strengthen our position in a rapidly evolving market.”
